D. Final Simulation

1. Safety Simulation

Software used: Navisworks, Pathfinder

Safety considerations will be coordinated into the models, identifying emergency fire escape route using Pathfinder. It can also be extended to the use of BIM models to simulate safe construction procedure to eliminate potential hazards faced in construction and better manage them.

2. Combined 4D(Schedule) and 5D(Cost) Simulation

Software used: Navisworks, CostX, Glodon

The objective of 4D(Schedule) is to simulate actual construction scheduling with phasing done from proper allocation of resources and tasks. Effective communication and visualization of the actual construction progress will used as a comparison between planned and actual events occurring. Construction schedule is produced with the coordinated BIM elements tagged with tasks to it. The actual visualization stems from the simulation to allow the team to identify the completion of key milestones. The objective of 5D(Cost) is to provide budget and cost control through cost quantification to ensure effective cost management. The extraction of quantities from the BIM model will allow quantity surveyors to perform cost estimation accurately. However, the correct LOD is required to extract the relevant quantities from the model.

3. Conceptual Visualisation + Rendering

Software used: Revit 2014, Lumion

The models created using Revit 2014 will need to be rendered to produce the 2D and 3D images of the models' interiors. This will give a close to real-life image of how the model will look like when it is physically constructed.

4. Facility Management

Software used: BEES, Microsoft Access

This aspect includes using BEES (Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability) to consider the life-cycle cost of the building materials used to construct the building. Both the environmental performances and the economic performances of the building materials will be assessed.

5. Energy Analysis and Landscape Coordination

Software used: Revit

Energy Analysis is used to assess the life-cycle cost and the energy performance of the building's air conditioning system, artificial lightings and other electricial system of the building.
