Tender C

 

The NUS BIM Research Centre will be integrated into the new building replacing the current NUS SDE2. The entire building will be built from scratch, starting with the demolition of SDE2. It will be a Green Mark Platinum certified building with various energy efficient features like low emissive double glazed cladding, green roof, rainwater harvesting etc.

 

The following facilities can be found in our new building in Tender C:

BIM Lecture Theatre

 

Situated on Level 3, the BIM Lecture Theater provides a well equipped location to host BIM seminars, classes and talks for both students and industry experts.

 

It consist of a lecture table with speaker and audio system, computer, projector  and  theater seats with desks. Various BIM software are being installed on the computer to allow for demonstration of softwares.

BIM Studios

 

There will be 2 BIM studios in the BIM centre.  Each will house high processing computers well-equipped with BIM software from 3D to 7D BIM, allowing CADing of models and analysis can be done efficiently.

 

The design promotes the concept of "Open and Integrated BIM", where each work stations are situated in close proximity with no barriers, facilitating discussion.

 

To support the large quantity of computers, a data, wire and server room will be located next to the BIM studio. 

BIM Centre Administrative Office

 

Located at Level 4, the administrative office accommodates 8 working desk, file storage area and machineries such as printer and shedder.  

BIM Director's Office

 

This office located on Level 4 provides a conducive environment for the Director to work in. The Director's Office allows privacy to the Director as it is segmented from the administrative area, still relatively close, providing convenience to the staff looking for the Director.  

 

This room is designed to be spacious with a working desk, couch and cabinets. 

Pantry

 

The pantry is located near the offices, meeting rooms and the BIM studio on Level 4 to provide accessibility for staffs. This is a location for staffs to relax and eat their meals.

 

Tables, chairs, sink, refrigerators, cabinets, stove and kitchen utensils are provided in the pantry.

 

 

Meeting Rooms

 

Our BIM Centre consist of 3 meeting room with different design, all locating on Level 4.

 

Meeting room 1 with a round table promotes collaborative team discussion where everyone is at equal level. Meeting room 2 focuses on reporting to someone with higher authority and power with long discussion table.

 

All rooms consist of a meeting table, projector, whiteboard and document storage area.  

Interactive Room

 

There will be 6 interactive labs located on Level 4. The main objective for the interactive labs is to provide fun while learning. 

 

The Interactive room comprises of an interactive LCD panel that will showcase BIM related videos and tutorials. It also provides an interactive learning corner for visitors.  

 

In addition, BIM quiz and exercise is also provided for visitors to complete, offering fun-filled hands-on activities. 

BIM Library

 

The library will be located on Level 4 of the centre. Online journals, books, articles and papers can be accessed from the computers in the library.

 

Information housed in the BIM library will be an asset and it will benefit the students as it will provide valuable information on BIM. 

Conference Room

 

There will be 2 conference room located on Level 4 of the BIM centre. The purpose of the conference room is to provide location to host presentation and speech for both students and industry experts.

 

They will be equipped with video conferencing technology to allow communication between industry experts from overseas.  

Drafting Room

 

The drafting room is a space for architects to draft the architecture model. The drafting room is located near the BIM studio, hence allowing accessibility between the two working area.

 

The room consists drafting tables, tools, computers and projectors

Dining Lounge

 

The dining lounge is a part of the Recreation Corner located on the 4th level. It allows staffs and students eat and relax here in the room.  

 

As teamwork is essential for any BIM project to succeed, the recreational corner allows staffs and students to bond and relax during break times.  The recreation corner also provides work life balance within the facility.  

Entertainment Lounge

 

The gaming lounge is a part of the Recreation Corner located on the 4th level. It allows staffs and students rest, relax and play games in the room. Table tennis, electronic game consoles etc are available here.

TV Lounge

 

The TV Lounge is part of the Recreation Corner located on the 4th level. It allows staffs and students to take a break and relax by watching TV.  

 

As teamwork is essential for any BIM project to succeed, the recreational corner allows staffs and students to bond and relax during break times.  The recreation corner also provides work life balance within the facility.  

Green Roof

 

The green roof is an outdoor space on Level 5 that allows students and staffs to relax and get fresh air. In addition, outdoor activities can be conducted at the roof garden.

 

It has a built-in ability for rain water harvesting. Water collected can be use for  watering plants and cleaning.  

 

Water tank and solar panels are also placed on the roof. The increases the energy efficiency as solar energy can be collected.
